Custom Handmade Jewelry

In our small Colorado studio Chell and Hawk Phoenix create one of a kind jewelry pieces using silver, gold and other materials. We also find nice settings online and put Hawk’s gemstones in them. We mainly work in silver and gold but we have parrots that donate some very nice feathers, too. Many of our creations include gemstones cut by Hawk, whether they be faceted gems, cabochons, or inlays. We also make settings that include cultured pearls and gemstone beads. We have 8 rescue parrots that annually donate feathers when they molt and we use them in creation of our feather jewelry. We endeavor to represent all of our jewelry as honestly as we can… we’ll tell you where our gems, settings, or other materials come from, accurately represent what they are, whether they are natural gems, or man-made lab grown gems. Most of our gemstones will be cut and polished by Hawk. We will post videos of Hawk creating some gems as time progresses.

We will also consider doing contract work for folks that want a custom made piece, but experience has shown that creating something for someone who wants a piece can be a difficult and time consuming process and many times the piece doesn’t turn out the way the buyer thinks they want and that can create problems. So, we are very selective when considering making a special piece for a customer. Please don’t be offended if we refuse to make your custom piece.

Our best advice is to look at our stock of jewelry or the Archives, and if you see something you like, you can choose to purchase the piece, or if you want something like a different stone in a setting, or need a ring in a specific size, we can custom make a duplicate of the piece for you. In the case of silver… if there is a gemstone mounted in it, it is practically impossible to resize a ring without damaging the setting or the gem. So, we do not want to get into resizing silver settings. It is easier and better for all of us to just make something to the size required from the beginning. Gold is easier to work with and we can be more flexible with rings and sometimes gem based settings.

Some of our Previous Work

This is a handmade sterling silver bracelet with a Hawk’s Eye cabochon as the center stone. It also has 4 – 14K gold accent balls surrounding the stone to complement the incredible play of gold in the center stone. You can see a larger picture of this bracelet in the Archives.

Russian Filigree Earrings

These are entirely handmade in our studio. The center stones are Turkish Purple Jade cut by Hawk and some lavender cultured pearls hang below. The bezels and the whorls are 14k gold and the frames and filigree are sterling silver. We have plans for a matching pendant to go with these.

Moluccan Cockatoo Crown Feather Earrings

These feathers were generously donated by Pepe’, our 20 year old Moluccan Cockatoo during one of his annual molts. These feathers are securely attached to sterling silver hook earrings with a silver bead.
